Ribana Knitted Fabric
Rib is knitted on double-bed circular machines with cylinder and dial needles working alternately in rib gating, so face and back wales alternate and vertical channels appear. It stretches strongly across the width and recovers well, which makes it the standard fabric for collars, cuffs, waistbands and close-fitting bodies. Both sides look alike and the edges do not curl.
Structure and production
We knit rib on 30–36 inch double-bed machines of 14–20 gauge. Collars and cuffs are usually 18–20 gauge with Ne 30/1 combed cotton; fuller body ribs use 14–16 gauge and Ne 20/1–24/1. Elastane of 40–70 denier is plated with the ground yarn to improve recovery. Weights run 180–320 g/m² and tubular width 90–160 cm; because rib relaxes and narrows, the width must always be stated as tubular or open, and measurements taken on rested fabric.
At Meyas Tekstil we define the stretch and recovery target first, then select elastane, stitch length and gauge. We plan collar rib and body fabric from the same yarn lot so shades match after dyeing.
Sourcing and sampling
One team from sample to bulk.
We knit Ribana on our own circular knitting machines in Kahramanmaraş and follow it from sample to bulk with one team.
Sample
We knit the sample on our own machine park in Kahramanmaraş and report greige and finished weight with post-wash dimensions.
Approval and recipe
Machine, settings and yarn lot of the approved sample go into the recipe; bulk is planned on that recipe.
Production and dispatch
Light-table inspection at the knitting exit, weight and width measured per lot; approved quality ships with traceable lot data.

Questions about Ribana.
What weight and width is Ribana produced in?
Our standard weight band is 180–320 g/m²; width: Tüp veya açık en 90–160 cm. Values outside the band are developed on request; the target is confirmed on the sample with post-wash measurements before bulk is planned.
Which products is Ribana used for?
Typical end uses are yaka, manşet, body, iç giyim. Composition options include pamuk/elastan, viskon/elastan; we recommend the yarn and finish according to the product and washing expectations.
Why is width stated as tubular or open?
Rib structures relax and narrow across the width, so tensioned and rested widths differ noticeably. We therefore state whether the width is tubular or open and under which condition it was measured, always on rested fabric.
