Punto Milano Knitted Fabric
Punto Milano, or milano rib, is knitted on double-bed machines in interlock gating with a three-feeder repeat: one rib course knitted on both beds, then one course on the cylinder alone and one on the dial alone. The single-bed courses lie behind the rib course, compressing the fabric and flattening the surface. The result is dense, clean-faced, dimensionally very stable and close to a woven in stance, which makes it the main knitted substitute for wovens in trousers, blazers and tailored dresses.
Structure and production
We knit it on 30–34 inch double-bed machines of 22–28 gauge with viscose/polyester/elastane or polyester/viscose yarns, typically Ne 30/1 or 150 denier polyester filament, with elastane plated for recovery. Weights run 260–400 g/m² and open width 145–170 cm. Low shrinkage and low stretch are its key advantages, so stenter and heat-setting parameters are fixed on the sample.
At Meyas Tekstil we settle stance, elastane content and surface cleanliness first, verify repeat compatibility and feeder tension on the light table, and share the heat-setting recipe with our finishing partner from the approved sample.
Sourcing and sampling

We knit Punto Milano on our own circular knitting machines in Kahramanmaraş and follow it from sample to bulk with one team.

We knit the sample on our own machine park in Kahramanmaraş and report greige and finished weight with post-wash dimensions.
Approval and recipe
Machine, settings and yarn lot of the approved sample go into the recipe; bulk is planned on that recipe.
Production and dispatch
Light-table inspection at the knitting exit, weight and width measured per lot; approved quality ships with traceable lot data.

Questions about Punto Milano.
What weight and width is Punto Milano produced in?
Our standard weight band is 260–400 g/m²; width: Açık en 145–170 cm. Values outside the band are developed on request; the target is confirmed on the sample with post-wash measurements before bulk is planned.
Which products is Punto Milano used for?
Typical end uses are pantolon, blazer, elbise. Composition options include viskon/polyester/elastan; we recommend the yarn and finish according to the product and washing expectations.
How do both faces of a double-bed fabric stay even?
Cylinder and dial stitch lengths are balanced on the sample; an unbalanced setting causes lines or uneven shrinkage on one face. Since a single faulty needle leaves a line along the whole roll, a trial knit and light-table inspection are done for every lot.
