Ottoman Knitted Fabric
Ottoman is a double-bed knit in which the cylinder needles knit several courses alone while the dial needles wait, then both beds knit a rib course that locks the raised section in place. The result is pronounced horizontal ribs that give the fabric a woven-like look, firm body and strong shape retention. It is the structured knitted alternative for dresses, jackets and premium trousers.
Structure and production
The number of cylinder-only courses sets the rib height, the number of rib courses sets the spacing, and a shorter dial stitch length makes the rib stand out more. We knit ottoman on 30–34 inch double-bed machines of 16–20 gauge with Ne 20/1–30/1 cotton/polyester, cotton/elastane or polyester/viscose/elastane yarns. Weights run 240–380 g/m² and open width 150–180 cm; the compressed structure makes it heavier and thicker than interlock from the same yarn.
At Meyas Tekstil we define rib height and spacing for the target garment, fix cylinder and dial stitch lengths and elastane content on the sample, and inspect rib evenness at the knitting exit before bulk is planned on the same recipe.
Sourcing and sampling

We knit Ottoman on our own circular knitting machines in Kahramanmaraş and follow it from sample to bulk with one team.
Sample
We knit the sample on our own machine park in Kahramanmaraş and report greige and finished weight with post-wash dimensions.
Approval and recipe
Machine, settings and yarn lot of the approved sample go into the recipe; bulk is planned on that recipe.
Production and dispatch
Light-table inspection at the knitting exit, weight and width measured per lot; approved quality ships with traceable lot data.

Questions about Ottoman.
What weight and width is Ottoman produced in?
Our standard weight band is 240–380 g/m²; width: Açık en 150–180 cm. Values outside the band are developed on request; the target is confirmed on the sample with post-wash measurements before bulk is planned.
Which products is Ottoman used for?
Typical end uses are elbise, ceket, premium alt giyim. Composition options include pamuk/polyester/elastan; we recommend the yarn and finish according to the product and washing expectations.
How do both faces of a double-bed fabric stay even?
Cylinder and dial stitch lengths are balanced on the sample; an unbalanced setting causes lines or uneven shrinkage on one face. Since a single faulty needle leaves a line along the whole roll, a trial knit and light-table inspection are done for every lot.
